Preschool 2024-2025

Ottawa High School is looking for preschool-age children to join their vocational preschool for the 2024–2025 school year. Preschool will start the first week of November and go until the middle of May. The preschool will be held three afternoons a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:50 to 2:55. The total cost is $175 per child.

The preschool is part of the Vocational Childcare course where high school students learn and receive hands-on experience working with preschoolers.

We have a nice balance in the classroom between learning and play time. High school students plan fun, hands-on, engaging activities for the preschoolers that allow them to develop their skills, learn, and socialize with other preschoolers in the class. Preschoolers learn and work on their names, shapes, colors, numbers, and letters while also having fun participating in math, science, and social study activities. Play time is spread out throughout the day, during which preschoolers may pick and choose between toys and classroom activities to do.

Below are the criteria for entrance that the child must meet to be able to attend.

Criteria for Entrance

1. The child must be preschool age (3-5) to attend. A birth certificate must be handed in for proof of age.

2. The child must be fully potty trained and able to go to the bathroom on their own with very little to no assistance.

3. The child needs to be able to take teacher direction, and that includes sitting down for some time to complete activities.
